Respiratory outbreak declared

Riverside Health Care in conjunction with the Northwestern Public Health Unit has declared a Respiratory Outbreak at Rainycrest Long Term Care Home.

The outbreak is specific to the East and West Wings and was declared due to a few residents developing a new or worse respiratory symptoms. As a precautionary measure COVID-19 testing is in progress and to date all tests are negative. We remind the public that this is not a COVID-19 outbreak at this time.

Indoor visiting is restricted to the Resident room and limited to 2 visitors at a time for those in the East and West wings. We request that no visiting take place in common space areas at this time, with the exception of the SCU.

Outdoor visiting and absences continue to be permitted for those not symptomatic. We recommend Residents to wear masks while out on absences.

The Outbreak Management Team will continue to monitor the situation. The care and safety of our residents, team members and families are a top priority. We thank everyone for their understanding and continued support at this time.
