The Rainy Lake Highlanders folk band, a.k.a. “The Scrapin’ Bottom Boys,” are set to take the stage tomorrow night in conjunction with Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship festivities.
They’ll perform under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina starting at 9 p.m., after the annual FFCBC parade of boats.
A bagpipe band at heart, this group of individuals have combined their talents to form an acoustic group with a mandate for fun. They’ve lived in this area for most of their lives and have been playing together for many more years than they’d care to remember.
If you’re looking for Top 40 music, you’ll not find it here. When asked, they’ll likely say they play East Coast Celtic, Irish, Bluegrass, Canadiana, folk, and party tunes.
From bodrhan to button accordion and banjo, upright bass to mandolin and guitar, you’re sure have a foot-stompin’, toe-tappin’ good time. And chances are good that a wee bagpipe tune could find its way into the evening as well.
So grab your beau, raise a jar, and help these guys govern themselves accordingly. It’ll be a recipe for fun!
