The local Chamber of Commerce once again is planning its annual “Quest for the Best” singing contest, which will be held next month in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
But Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth said this morning while some sponsors already have been secured, other are still needed to make the show—which will be staged July 24 under the big tent—the success it’s proven to be in the past.
“We’re still waiting to hear back from CFOB, which has been our major co-sponsor in past years. This year, we also have the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship as an official co-sponsor, too,” Booth remarked.
Prizes that still need sponsors include first place ($500), second place ($300), two People’s Choice ($150 each), Contestant’s Choice ($100), Most Original ($100), and Audience Response ($100).
Businesses also can be recognized as a general sponsor for $100.
Meanwhile, entry forms for contestants likely will be available by the end of the week. “I’ve had people come into the office already looking for them,” noted Booth.
The entry fee is $25, and participants can enter as soloists or duets (in that case, each person has to pay $25). A maximum of 20 participants will be accepted.
Last year’s “Quest” was won by Lindsay Hamilton, with Jon Bone in second and Alyson Booth taking third place.
Booth said tickets to attend “Quest” will go on sale July 1. “Cost is $12 in advance [and] $15 at the door. But in the past, we’ve found we usually sell out pretty quickly,” she warned.
About 1,000 tickets will be available.
