Fort Frances OPP is reminding motorists there will be an increased level of enforcement on local streets and highways.
“School’s back in session. We have young drivers on the streets, and young people on the sidewalks and crossing streets,” said Cst. Al MacDonald.
“We’ve heard concerns about road safety and we’re responding to that,” he noted.
Cst. MacDonald added increased visibility on the highways is especially important following several deaths that occurred on Highway 17 between Kenora and Vermilion Bay last month alone.
Officers will be checking for aggressive drivers, drivers not wearing seatbelts, child restraint systems, and other Highway Traffic Act violations.
This level of enforcement will continue throughout the year, Cst. MacDonald said.
