Firefighters to raise money again for MD

The Fort Frances Fire Brigade once again will take the opportunity to raise money for a good cause, when they hold their “boot drive” for Muscular Dystrophy in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship parade of boats.
“We raised $500 last year. We striving for more this year,” said firefighter Wayne Riches.
“Last year, we did it without too much promotion beforehand. We want people to know that we’ll be at the parade now, and they’ll know to save up their change. Maybe there’ll be some loonies and toonies,” he added. “Whatever people can give, it’s great.”
The boat parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22. Both volunteer and full-time firefighters will be leading the parade, carrying fire boots.
They’ll also be handing out candy.
