In last week’s Cheers and Jeers, a Cheer went out to Canada Border Services (CBS) officers for wearing orange stripes on their shoulders. The writer of the Cheer believed that the vests signified CBS officers in training.

In fact, the orange epaulettes do not identify new recruits; rather, they are a show of support for the local bargaining team.

CBS members have been working without a contract since June 2018.

Their last contract took over four years to ratify, and was already expired by the time it was signed in July 2018.

CBS officers welcome any and all public support during their fight for a fair collective agreement.

Now that the federal election is over, they look forward to returning to the bargaining table soon.
