Lions planning annual ‘walk-a-thon’

Emo Lions Club president Bob Dimit tells me their annual “walk-a-thon” will be held May 11, starting at 9 a.m. from the Emo curling club.
The route once again with go from the curling club to Tom Judson’s gate, south to River Road, and then back. Refreshments to follow.

Legion Br. #99 at Emo staged another fantastic fish fry on Good Friday. by 6 p.m., some 240 tickets had been sold—which did not include 24 take-out meals.
There was excellent support from across the district, including more than 40 guests from Fort Frances.
The menu featured three pieces of fish, spuds, vegetables and buns, coffee/tea, and pie with ice cream for dessert—all for the price of $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Having spoken to Betty Esselink, I’m told the Coffee Break ladies at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo are planning several fundraising projects leading up to their convention July 12-14 in Minneapolis.
Some 13 local ladies are planning to attend.
The first project will be doing Mother’s Pantry (forms for this already are in the hands of ladies) and secondly, they’re planning to hold a garage sale during Emo Spring Fever Days later this month.
If anyone has something to donate to this project, contact Carol (Arnold) Kaemingh or Geneva (Richard) Veldhuisen (only good used clothing acceptable).
A bake sale also is being planned for Saturday, April 20 at the church at the same time as the G.E.M.S. are having their annual pancake breakfast in conjunction with Spring Fever Days.
