The monthly meeting for the Laverendrye General Hospital Auxiliary was held in the hospital conference room on October 5 with eight members in attendance Five in person and three virtually. COVID -19 protocols were observed.
The Hospital Auxiliary Association of Ontario has been disbanded, and is now part of Volunteer Canada. In recognition Volunteer Canada has donate one three year membership to it organization for each Auxiliary. This membership allows auxiliaries to vote at the AGM and gain access to webinars discounts etc. Marnie Cumming has volunteered to be the contact.
A card was received from the Riverside Foundation thanking the Auxiliary for the $ 27,000. donation for the Panic Alarm System for 2019/20. The capital budget for 2020/21 was reviewed and items to be purchased were discussed.
There are a number of vacancies on the executive. The vacancies are for : Vice President, Shop Manager, Foundation Representative and Member at Large. Also, a new Treasurer will be needed for 2021/22. Any members who wish to volunteer or who know of anyone who may wish to do so, kindly get in touch with any member of the executive. The hope is to have these positions filled as soon as possible.
There was discussion on the Shop reopening and it was decided that opening must be deferred until a Shop Manager can been found to take care of everyday operations as well as maintaining Covid-19 standards and the OH&S Representative and the volunteers feel that it is safe to do so.
An in depth discussion was made regarding future fundraising with several suggestions being put forward. Further to the discussion an Auction Committee was formed with several volunteers. Logistics and safety will be discussed with Alison Cox. It is hoped that a silent auction can be arranged some time in November or December.
This month Get Well, Sympathy and Thinking of You cards were sent to several members.
A membership drive was completed in September. There are 228 active members and 15 Rainycrest members. To date 122 memberships have been paid including Life Members. Thank you to all who assisted in the drive.
Volunteers were able to access the store room to prepare baby kits. Thanks to the nurses who helped when the volunteers were unable to gain access to prepare them. Thank you also to all the volunteers for making baby booties, hats and mitts. More knitters are always welcome. There is lots of wool in the store room waiting to be made into items. A nice way to volunteer from your own home on a cold winter day and make something beautiful and useful. If you like to knit and wish to volunteer contact anyone on the executive.
