They grow up so fast, don’t they? This family of trumpeter swans was caught taking a swim and enjoying the late September weather. the three young trumpeter swans will remain with their parents until they return to their breeding grounds next spring, meaning the swan parents have two more long flights full of “Are we there yet?” ahead of them. Larry and Shirley Gluehesien accompanied their granddaughter Madison Solderholm during local Alzheimer Society’s fifth-annual “Walk for Memories” here Sunday. The walk, which drew about 20 participants, raised more than $3,400 for the Alzheimer Society. The top fundraiser was Helen Cone, who brought in $825, winning a one-night stay at the Canad Inn Fort Garry in Winnipeg as well as two tickets to the Celebration Dinner Theatre. Walkers, lead by Mayor Roy Avis, were treated to healthy snacks and ice cream back at the Super 8 after completing two laps around the track at the high school.
