Two new fires start

Two new fires were reported in the Northwest Region over the weekend.
Both were located in Dryden District and were 0.1 hectares in size, the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Northwest Region Fire Centre reported this morning.
The forest fire hazard is on the rise across Northwestern Ontario. Active weather tracked across the region Saturday, although precipitation was localized and some areas received no rain at all.
The hazard is “high” south of the Highway 17 corridor, and “moderate to low” to the north. Use caution with all outdoor fires!
Since the fire season began April 1, the region has seen a total of 205 fires, consuming about 32,418 ha.
Fort Frances District has had a total of 20 blazes, burning 17.3 ha.
