New OPP community office open in Chapple

On June 28, 2022 the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in partnership with the Township of Chapple will be opening a new Community Policing Office, located within the Community Hall at 140 Main Street, Barwick, Ontario.

Community Policing Offices (CPO) are a connection between police and residents in the community and are a safe place for the public to access services and participate in programs focused on crime prevention and community safety.

These offices play an important role in our communities focusing on policing responsibilities, as well as programs and services that assist the police and the community in achieving common goals while building trust and promoting public safety.

“Our new Community Policing Office in Chapple is reflective of the vast geography served by the Rainy River District Detachment and will enable and support enhancements to the OPP’s service delivery, visibility, enforcement and crime prevention throughout the western half of the District,” sad Inspector Shaun Crabbe, Commander, Rainy River District OPP.

The CPO will have signage identifying it as an official OPP service location and although it will not be open to the public for unscheduled drop-ins, it will be available to support access to OPP programming, scheduled meetings, investigative support and policing operations.

To report non-urgent matters or to make general inquiries, members of the community can contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1 (888) 310-1122. In the case of an emergency, call 911.
