Man charged with using stolen credit card

A 39-year-old Couchiching First Nation man has been charged with one of count of possess property obtained by crime and five counts of use credit card obtained by crime.

Earlier this month, members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a theft that had taken place over night.

A credit card was stolen from a vehicle on Second Street East in Fort Frances.

The credit card was subsequently used to purchase several items from various businesses in the downtown area.

The investigation conducted revealed a suspect.

On Monday, officers located and arrested the suspect in this incident.

The OPP is committed to community safety.

Members of the public are urged to report credit card thefts so the police can make an appropriate response.

Members of the public are also reminded to ensure that your vehicle is locked when parked, especially overnight and that all money and credit cards are removed or hidden from sight.

In other news, the OPP are issuing a public safety warning in relation to the suspects in a B.C. homicide of a young couple along with another death.

The last confirmed sighting of the suspects, Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky, was in Meadow Lake, Sask.
