Legion ladies to host district meeting

Press Release

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Br. #29 met Feb. 14 with 26 members in attendance.
After president Alfreda Easton called the meeting to order, an application for membership was received and approved for Carla Krawchuk.
Reinstatement for membership was received and approved for Helen Brow.
The positions of Secretary and Ways & Means remain vacant. Any member who is interested or would like further information on these positions, contact Alfreda at 274-9105.
The district meeting is scheduled for April 6-8, and being hosted by the local auxiliary.
With the theme being “The Grammys,” be sure to wear your best dress/gown or come as your favourite star. It should be loads of fun.
Auxiliary members are urged to attend, with those interested asked to R.S.V.P. to Christina McDougall at 274-7848 by March 20.
Registration is $5, with banquet tickets costing $25 each.
Registration is on the evening of April 6, with the meeting set for Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. in the clubroom.
The banquet will follow at 6:30 p.m., with cocktails beforehand and then a social evening afterwards.
Volunteers are needed for all aspects of the event. Contact Alfreda if you can spare some time to help out.
In other news, the afternoon card party held Jan. 23 was a success and another one is planned for Wednesday, March 21 at 1 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
All auxiliary members are welcome (bring a munchie/snack).
As well, auxiliary members will be providing support for “Meals on Wheels” deliveries during the week of March 26-29.
A reminder the auxiliary’s monthly supper, set for Friday, Feb. 23, will feature lasagna, Caesar salad, veggies, garlic toast, and dessert.
A 50/50 draw also will be held that evening.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with the cost being $16/plate.
Take-outs are available by calling 274-3772.
The auxiliary also has made donations for community and youth activities, including to the Festival of the Performing Arts, “Project Petunia,” and the Royal Canadian Legion Sports Foundation Inc. (to offset expenses to send youths to the Peace Gardens sports camp).
The auxiliary’s next general meeting will be held Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
If you would like to know more about joining this group of fun and hard-working ladies, call Cindy Noble at 274-6743.
