KBHW planning for ‘Sharathon’

Preparations are well underway for KBHW’s “Sharathon” 2002 coming up Aug. 13-15 over in International Falls.
KBHW would love to have you—the listener—join them on these days as they pre-empt their regular programming from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Local pastors and other special guests from the listening area are scheduled to share their stories about what God is doing and the importance of Christian radio in northern Minnesota and Northwestern Ontario.
“These are exciting times we are living in, and God is moving in and amongst His people,” noted KBHW staff. “You do not want to miss hearing all about it.
“‘Sharathon’ provides you an opportunity to be a part of the ministry.”
Listeners are being asked to play a role in its ministry through prayer, financial support, and volunteering for various special events that are held throughout the year.
“Over the past years, some organizations have referred to our fundraising events as ‘friend-raisers,’” noted KBHW station manager Bruce Christopherson.
“I think this is a great way to refer to KBHW’s ‘Sharathon’ [each August],” he added. “Our support family are those who have taken an active financial role in keeping KBHW on the air for nearly 20 years.”
“These friends have stepped beyond words of support for our mission goals, or being faithful listeners, and into the active friendship of providing the resources we need to fulfill our mission,” Christopherson remarked.
For Peggy Gustafson, the longtime PR director at KBHW, this year’s “Sharathon” marks one last time. She has been afflicted with nearly total loss of vision in her left eye and just pockets of vision in the right one.
“What we see determines so many other responses to our daily routine,” Gustafson noted. “For me, it’s important to see what God sees.
“Scripture tells us He is looking through eyes that are roaming back and forth over the whole Earth to see if He can find just one who is blameless towards Him, so that He can strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.”
Gustafson said she isn’t retiring from the ministry, but rather is being re-assigned for now.
“Thank you for your words, phone calls, [and] letters of encouragement,” she added. “I have been so blessed by you these past 19-and-a-half years.”
