’Flu outbreak lifted

Press Release

In conjunction with the Northwestern Health Unit, Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. has lifted the influenza outbreak at Rainycrest Long-Term Care here.
Rainycrest staff took several steps to help patients and staff, as well as keep the illness from spreading.
These included:
•isolating patients with symptoms and postponing group activities; and
•aggressive cleaning throughout the facility.
Colds, influenza, and stomach viruses are especially common in the community at this time of year.
Once again, Riverside urges anyone going to any hospital or long-term care home to visit should do so only when they’re feeling well.
Potential visitors with symptoms of a cold, influenza, or a stomach virus are advised to stay home and not enter a hospital until they’ve been free of symptoms for two days.
This precaution will help reduce the chance of passing an infection to seriously-ill patients.
