$30,000 up for grabs as Tbaytel launches community fund applications

Telecommunications provider Tbaytel has opened the 2026 application process for community groups to apply for funding through its Tbaytel For Good Community Fund, which will distribute $30,000 among winning entries.

The application window for the competition, which began on Monday, closes on May 20. The fund is open to teachers, students, parents, volunteers, not-for-profit organizations, coaches, community members, associations and individuals within the company’s service area who are looking to improve their communities through projects, ideas or initiatives.

“What stands out most during the judging process is the sheer heart behind every submission,” Tbaytel Communication and Brand Manager Agnes Notarbartolo said in a press release.

“It’s more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of the people who are committed to enhancing their neighborhoods. I am constantly inspired by the local leadership we see, and I’m thrilled that Tbaytel can play a role in bringing vital community visions to life.”

The fund has awarded $396,434 to 113 projects across 25 Northern Ontario communities since its inception in 2013. It’s intended to support initiatives from program-based ideas to upgrades for equipment or facilities with grants of up to $10,000 per submission.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a project that will benefit their community, include a project description, budget, record a 60-second video describing the project and complete the online application by 4 p.m. EST on May 20. Entries are reviewed by a panel of community judges with winners to be announced on June 19.

Applicants must be located within Tbaytel’s service area in Northern Ontario—Thunder Bay and the surrounding Northwestern Ontario region from west of Sault Ste. Marie to the Manitoba border—and projects should align with the goal of improving community spaces, services or programs.
