The congregation at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo welcomed Rev. Harold and Joanne DeJong as guest speaker for both the morning and evening worship services last Sunday (Jan. 13).
The couple, hailing from Dispatch, Kan., also visited with Harold’s mother, Nellie DeJong, at the Golden Age Manor, as well as other relatives and friends.
Harold was a missionary to Nigeria for a number of years.
Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (Jan. 9) were Marion Larson and Kay Bragg (high), with consolations to Dennis and Rennie Kivell.
Rudy Meyers won the door prize.
Mary Cain, having spent Christmas with son, Peter, and family at Kitchener, is back home relaxing. En route home, she visited briefly with Cathy Cain and family in Winnipeg.
Peter Cain, who is principal at Margaret Avenue Public School in Kitchener, only has about two more years to go before retirement.
We send get-well wishes to the following who are recuperating from their illness or surgery: John Esselink, Kathy Kaemingh, Art Bonot, and Ron McQuaker, who had the misfortune to fall and hurt his back while cleaning his eaves troughs.
Happy birthday wishes are sent out to two of our fine ladies of the community—Ann Veldhuisen, who celebrated her 70th this past Wednesday, and to my wife, who is not yet up there but close.
Her birthday was this past Monday (Jan. 14).
