Council challenged to lawn bowling

The Wheels to Meals program has challenged Emo council to a carpet bowling tournament next Thursday (May 16) at the Legion.
Other upcoming activities include the final club carpet bowling tournament (May 23), and carpet bowling and cards (May 30).
Wheels to Meals will hold its season windup, featuring carpet bowling, a potluck luncheon, and entertainment by Kayla Lauzon, on June 6.

Members of the Emo Lions Club would like to thank everyone who made their yard sale a success during Spring Fever Days. Special thanks to Joyce and Don Meyers for offering their garage.
Proceeds will go to Lions projects.

Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (May 1) were Darlyne Bruce and Jerry Allen (high), with consolations to Dennis and Renne Kivell.
Sis Woolsey won the door prize.

The Northwestern Ontario Baptist Association meetings were held last weekend, with delegates coming in from Thunder Bay, Kenora, Dryden, and other areas.
The banquet took place at the Christian Reformed Church on Saturday evening.

Pastor Jim Dekker, from the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Thunder Bay, will be the guest speaker this Sunday (May 13) at the CRC in Emo for both services, which will include the installation of officers.
An Ascension Day worship goes Thursday at 7 p.m. at the CRC.

Roger Bonot, retired CN dispatcher from Winnipeg, visited briefly with his brother, Art, here and sister at Rainy River. As every year in the past, Roger was attending the CNR retirement party in Rainy River.
This year, only one employee—locomotive engineer Tom McCormick— was retiring.

A reminder that Off Lake Evangelical Covenant Church is having its mother/daughter tea this Saturday (May 11) at 7 p.m. in the church hall. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend.
