The Point Park beach will remain closed over the weekend, if not longer.
The Northwestern Health Unit told the Times this morning that they had received the results from the double set of samples they took on Tuesday, and the results were again very high in E.coli bacteria, which can pose possible health risks to bathers, including a variety of skin, eye, nose and throat infections, and gastrointestinal illness.
As such, the beach will remain posted until the health unit gets satisfactory water quality test results.
The beach was first declared off-limits late Friday as a result of routine beach water sampling.
The water quality of local beaches is tested by the Northwestern Health Unit from early June to the end of August.
