Some inaccuracies

Andrew Hallikas

Dear Mike:
The Fort Frances Library Technology Centre would like to correct some inaccuracies in the letter submitted by Cathie Sinninghe on April 13/16.
We certainly appreciate Cathie’s letter and value her support and sentiments. Unfortunately, Cathy was misinformed regarding some of the staffing remarks that she mentioned.
While we did have an IT assistant intern position, it was a term position funded by a one-time grant sponsored through the Ontario Library Association and Industry Canada.
This term of this position ended on March 31, 2016. Therefore our intern no longer is employed at the library.
No other library employee presently on contract with us is in any danger of losing their position; this includes our IT co-ordinator.
Our Shut-In or Home Delivery Service also is not in jeopardy. Currently, this service is being provided through the dedication and commitment of some of our hard-working library volunteers.
Due to staff retirements, there currently are one full-time and one part-time position temporarily vacant. These positions are budgeted for and will be filled in the near future.
Presently, we are re-structuring and during this time of transition, our dedicated staff are working very hard to ensure our programs and services continue to meet the needs of our evolving community.
In an effort to avoid any future misunderstandings, I would like to issue a gentle reminder that the only people authorized to speak publicly regarding the Fort Frances Library Technology Centre are the CEO and the board chair.
The Fort Frances Library Technology Centre loves its patrons and we encourage our patrons to contact us if they have any questions at all about our library or its operation.
Thanks for the space, Mike.
