Photos welcomed

Dear Mr. Editor:
The members of the colour parties of Legion Br. #29 here in Fort Frances have taken upon themselves to enhance the Year of the Veteran with the ongoing project of mounting an individual photo of each veteran in the branch.
We have started this project with the Fort Frances Times printing of names from Thursday, Sept. 6, 1945.
At this time, we are requesting your readership’s assistance by putting the names with some photos we have in the front lobby of the branch. The blow-up photo we have is the 17 Forestry Corps taken in Scotland in 1941.
There are many photos brought into the branch by family members and others. But the three main problems we have are:
1. The photo may have from 1-30 or more persons, without any names. We can’t tell who is the local vet;
2. The one or more local veteran in these photos do not tell us of the year of enlistment of the veteran; and
3. The photos are all different sizes (this problem we can work around).
Since available space is our number-one difficulty, we have concluded that the finished individual photo of these veterans should be a head-shoulder-chest-in uniform photo (2.5” x 3.5” deep), with name, year of enlistment, and home (i.e. Fort Frances, West McIrvine, Mine Centre, etc.)
Photos may be brought into the Legion office, which is open weekdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Ideally, the photo should be taken within two years of the enlistment date.
Thank you,
Ed Haglund, member
Branch colour party
