The Fort Frances Lakers will host the Dryden GM Ice Dogs in SIJHL action on Friday, March 16 before concluding their regular-season schedule against the Thief River Falls Norskies on Saturday, March 17. Both games go at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena, with admission for each one being $12 for adults, $8 for students, and $5 for those aged 12 and under.
A St. Patrick’s Day “Baked Potato Bar” fundraiser dinner will be held Saturday, March 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit (824 Victoria Ave.) Admission is a free-will offering for local outreach projects.

The Fort Frances Curling Club is hosting the OFSAA boys’ and girls’ curling championships, with action getting underway Wednesday, March 21 at 7:45 a.m. The quarter-finals are slated for Friday, March 23 at 5 and 8 p.m., with the semi-finals going Saturday, March 24 at 9:15 a.m., followed by the gold- and bronze-medal matches at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free but window seats are available for $50 each.
The annual fundraiser book sale at Revco Carpet runs March 21-23 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 24 from 9 a.m.-noon. The public can drop by the store (950 Fifth St. W.), fill a bag with books, and then make a donation. Proceeds will go to support the Borderland Judo Club, the Muskie track-and-field team, and the local Alzheimer’s Society.
