WRRD Lions support youth recreation

 

The West Rainy River District Lions Club is able to add some support to both the Rainy River Minor Hockey and the Rainy River figure Skating Club with the outstanding community support of their 50/50 Christmas draw. All 250 of the $20 Tickets were sold says Draw Committee Chair Gordon Armstrong raising $2500 for the two clubs to purchase ice time for their activities.

Rainy River Curling looking for league organizers

 

In a request circulated this past week, The Rainy River Curling Club outlined its hopes for this season’s use of its facilities. They are looking for volunteer community members to organize Leagues for the season and rent ice time from the RRCC. Ice is to be available from December through mid-March, depending on weather.

Tucked in for the Winter

Putting the bees to bed for the winter is no simple chore. Peggy and Telford Advent operate, the Honey Hut Apiary at Stratton and their two dozen colonies of honey bees are now snugly tucked away for the winter. But putting the bees to bed is no simple chore. Bees do not hibernate they stay active in their hives all winter raising young and clustering together to generate their own heat.
