Police urge extreme caution on lake ice this winter

 

(FORT FRANCES, ON) - The fluctuation in temperature and warmer weather has caused concern regarding the condition of the ice in the Rainy River District. The Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police would urges members of the public to ensure they consider proper safety precautions if they are recreating on the frozen waterways.

Police appealing to the public for information on suspicious death

(COUCHICHING FIRST NATION, ON) - On December 25, 2020, members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted by Treaty Three Police in regards to a suspicious death on Couchiching First Nation. Police along with Rainy River District EMS responded to a residence on Rainy Lake Boulevard for a report of a domestic assault with a weapon.

Police seeking assistance with two break and enters

 

(FORT FRANCES, ON) - The Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking for assistance from the public.

On Saturday November 28, 2020 officers of the Rainy River District OPP responded to a Break and Enter at McTaggarts Store on Scott Street in Fort Frances. The incident occurred between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Police investigate circumstances around unexplained death in Nipigon

 

(NIPIGON, ON) - On October 7, 2020 at approximately 1:07 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Nipigon Detachment responded to an incident where a male was located with vital signs absent at a residence in Nipigon. The male was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, but he was pronounced deceased once at the hospital.
