Bargain Shop toy drive in the home stretch


The Bargain Shop is halfway through its annual toy drive to support charities in the community, and is excited by the community’s show of support so far.

The toy drive began on Nov. 14. The shop will be collecting monetary donations, as well as toy donations until Dec. 5. So far, they have raised $3,792 and hope to reach their goal of $7,000 by Dec. 5.

Lakers and United Native Friendship Centre to host annual Christmas toy drive


Whether it's the new Lego set or the latest Spiderman action figure, toys top most children’s Christmas list. But not all are so fortunate to receive them.

On Friday Dec. 4, the Fort Frances Lakers and the United Native Friendship Centre (UNFC) hope to rectify that, with their annual toy drive for the Adopt-a-Family program.

Low cost housing planned for school


A dramatic transformation is planned for St Michael's School, which could fulfill the town's need for lower cost and senior housing.

The Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board (RRDSSAB) has purchased St. Michael's school located at 820 Fifth St. East, with an additional offer to purchase the playground. RRDSSAB will have access to the school in April 2021.
