Pharmasave wins bronze

It wasn’t the game either team wanted to be in but Pharmasave decided to make the most of it.
Kevin Metke and Sam Berube each scored as Pharmasave blanked the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs U18 squad 2-0 last night in the men’s bronze-medal game of the Borderland Soccer League.

Brett Bodnarchuk and Liam Metke shared the shutout.
Alex Gustafson took the loss in goal for the Voyageurs, who had ousted defending champion Senior Pharmasave in the fourth- vs. fifth-place game last week.
Meanwhile, the men’s and women’s finals will go tonight at 6:30, with both featuring the top two teams from their respective regular seasons.
First-place ITS will battle second-place Manitou Forest Products on the men’s side.
ITS beat the Vous while Manitou stopped Pharmasave in semi-final action Monday.
Manitou has yet to lose to ITS this year, posting two wins while tying once.
In the women’s division, second-place Taggs will try to upset defending champion La Place Rendez-Vous after downing Al’s Racquet Stringing 5-3 in Tuesday’s semi-final.
Sara Kellar opened the scoring for Al’s early in the first half before Taggs exploded for four goals in a 12-minute span later in the frame.
Jess Caul and Hannah Firth-Oster each potted a pair of goals, with Sara Roach adding a single.
Gabrielle Nussbaumer and Laureen Peters had the other goals for Al’s.
The league also will hand out its year-end awards following the games.
