Legion ladies enjoy potluck

The Fort Frances Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary met last Wednesday (June 11), with 46 members in attendance.
A lovely potluck supper was enjoyed by all before the meeting.

In May, local veterans were honoured with a supper. Special thanks to Kerry Zucchiatti and Linda Richerts for the help with the skit performed to entertain them.
Also in May, we welcomed seven new members, including Loreli Smith, Christal Dolph, Carolyn Oliver, Cindy Nick, Courtney Yatchuk, Susan Bodnarchuk, and Donna Ewald.
Wendy Derendorf was initiated in June.
Welcome ladies!
In other news, approval was given to donate four $500 bursaries to deserving graduating students of Fort Frances High School.
The auxiliary also held a bingo at Rainycrest for residents and delivered “Meals on Wheels.”
At our June meeting, we approved the purchase of two “Relay For Life” luminaries in memory of our deceased members and in honour of cancer-surviving members.
We also are donating money to the Canadian Cancer Society through its “Relay For Life.”
The colours will be carried at the opening ceremonies of “Relay For Life.”
A donation also was made to 144 Royal Canadian Sea Cadets Corps. (Fort Frances).
A reminder the auxiliary’s annual Canada Day pancake breakfast will be held July 1 from 7-9:30 a.m. upstairs at the Legion.
Pancakes, sausages, juice, coffee, and tea will be offered, with admission being $6 for adults and $3 for kids five and under.
Everyone welcome.
The colour party also will be marching in the Canada Day parade.
Meanwhile, our ladies actively are involved with the Fort Frances Museum’s plans in September re: the anniversaries of the First and Second World Wars.
The attendance draw was won by Carol Affleck while the birthday draws went to Marlene Deschamps (June) and Donna Ewald (July).
