Unifor backs Campbell

Unifor is recommending its 1,700 members across the Kenora-Rainy River riding support incumbent NDP MPP Sarah Campbell in the June 12 provincial election.
“PC candidate Randy Nickle is likeable enough but the grim reality is every vote he gets is a vote for Tim Hudak and his radical, slash-and-burn agenda,” warned Unifor national representative Stephen Boon.

“As a large geographic region with a very low population density, we depend heavily on government funding to maintain critical services related to our schools, hospitals, roads, social programs, and key infrastructure,” Boon noted.
“Instead of enhancing what we have now, Tim Hudak has made it quite clear he would strip away existing government services while at the same time promoting low-wage, precarious work across the province as part of his highly-criticized white paper jobs plan.
“We are finally emerging from the last recession and can look forward to several mining projects and another 1,000 good-paying union jobs linked to four sawmills opening across the riding,” Boon added.
“It is more crucial than ever that we support balanced, pragmatic representatives like Sarah Campbell who will work for the north, instead of propping up Tim Hudak who will work against it,” he concluded.
