Train derails west of Fort Frances

At approximately 3:30 p.m. yesterday, a southbound CN train derailed within Alberton Township three miles west of Fort Frances.
Indications are that 35 cars have derailed.

There were no injuries.
Initial reports indicate that the majority of the cars were carrying potash and paper products, with two carrying sulfur.
A grass fire was reported in the area. Local fire officials were on site to extinguish the fire.
CN crews are responding to the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
The derailment caused a temporary closure of Hwy. 11/71 late yesterday afternoon, with the public asked to use Hwy. 602 or Hwy. 611 North via Frog Creek Road to by-pass area.
Hwy. 11/71 was re-opened to traffic by 4:30 p.m.
