Fastball opener axed

The calendar says it should be time for fastball.
But Mother Nature woke up this morning and was more interested in snowball.

As such, the Rainy River District Fastball League has decided to push back the opening of its 2014 season.
It originally was slated to kick off this evening on six fronts.
But league spokesman Chris Jack confirmed this morning that all games scheduled for today and Thursday have been postponed.
They will be made up at a later date.
That means the league’s opening night now is scheduled for next Tuesday (May 20).
