0-2 start for team

Things are not going to plan for Team Hockey Northwestern Ontario.
The regional squad, which includes Fort Frances forwards Tyler VanUden and Graeme Kitt, is 0-2 so far at the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Gold Cup U16 tournament in Kitchener.

Team HNO opened action yesterday with a 4-2 loss to Team Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO).
VanUden assisted on Zachary West’s game-opening goal at 4:37 of the first to put Team HNO up 1-0.
Team HEO tied it on Tye Fehlhaber’s marker at 7:15, then grabbed its first lead on Zachary Poirier’s tally at 6:32 of the second.
VanUden was at it again later in the frame—setting up Troy Williams on the power play at 14:19 to square the contest.
But Sam Meisenheimer notched a short-handed goal at 9:25 of the third for the game-winner.
William Bitten then added an empty-netter with 15 seconds left to ice the victory.
Team HEO outshot Team HNO 28-17, including 12-3 in the second period.
In their second game this morning, Team HNO was overwhelmed 9-2 by Team Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) Blue.
VanUden notched his third helper in two games by assisting on West’s goal at 12:48 of the first that cut Team HNO’s deficit to 2-1.
But Team GTHL Blue ran wild from there—scoring six-straight goals, including four in the second, to put the game out of reach.
Team HNO was outshot 51-19.
The squad was back in action this afternoon for its final preliminary-round game against Team Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA).
