Ladies’ volleyball finalists determined

Bump It Up might want to run out onto the court next week with the theme from “Rocky” playing in the background.
Now all they need to do to finish the classic underdog story is to knock out the regular-season champions in their upcoming title fight.

Entering the playoffs as the sixth seed, Bump It Up survived a three-match pressure test last night to advance to the ‘A’ final of the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League next week.
Awaiting them will be top-seeded Scared Hitless, which captured the ‘A’-side crown last night by defeating third-ranked Gillons’ Cougars.
The Cougars had no time to regroup and soon became the latest upset victims of Bump It Up’s amazing run—losing to the lesser-ranked squad to bring their season to an abrupt end.
That victory capped a busy and tense evening for Bump It Up, who sent fifth-seeded Kiss My Pass packing in the ‘B’-side quarterfinals to start the evening.
Next in line was second-seeded Alliance, who had led the standings for much of the regular season.
But Bump It Up maintained their high level of play to win again before moving on to put the Cougars to sleep for good.
Scared Hitless is the clear favourite entering the final after finishing 25 points ahead of Bump It Up during the regular season (77-52).
They also are a perfect 3-0 in the playoffs.
Bump It Up, meanwhile, has posted a 5-1 post-season mark, including having won their last four matches.
The championship match goes next Thursday (April 10) at 7 p.m. at Fort High.
