Crash causes power outage

A large swath of the west end was plunged into darkness early yesterday evening after a vehicle collided with a hydro pole on the 300 block of King’s Highway.
Police said the mishap occurred around 5:10 p.m. when a westbound Honda CRV slid off the road and struck the pole.

The collision knocked out power to homes and businesses between Central Avenue and just west of Keating Avenue for about an hour-and-a-half.
As well, traffic flow had to be re-directed from the “four-laner” for several hours.
Police said the driver, a 34-year-old female from Emo, was not injured in the collision.
No charges were laid, police added.
