Court teams split in Kenora

Caleb McIntosh and Cole Edwards proved too much for the Kenora Broncos to handle.
The pair each scored 19 points to spark the Muskie senior boys’ basketball team to a 65-22 rout in NorWOSSA action there yesterday.

Fort High (4-2) maintained its hold on first place with the win while the Broncos (0-6) continue to sit in the basement.
Brendan Loranger led Kenora with seven points.
The Muskie senior girls’ volleyball team also looked strong yesterday, sweeping host Kenora 25-23, 25-15, and 25-14 to improve to 3-3 in NorWOSSA play.
The Broncos, meanwhile, continue to struggle at 0-6.
In the upset of the day, the Muskie junior boys’ basketball team suffered its first loss of the NorWOSSA campaign—falling 53-38 to Kenora.
Mark Reimer led the Broncos (3-2) with 13 points while Eric Melillo added 11.
Jacob Empey netted 11 for the Muskies (5-1) while Liam Metke, Ian Jodoin, and Joey Angus each had six.
There was no junior girls’ volleyball match yesterday as the Broncos were in Thunder Bay for a tournament.
A double-header will be played here next week to make up the game.
In related news, the Muskie senior boys are in Kenora for a tournament starting today.
All four local teams will be back in action here Tuesday against the Dryden Eagles, with play starting at noon.
