Turn on lights: OPP

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind motorists of the importance of activating your vehicle’s headlights and tail lights during winter conditions.
As you are likely aware, most new model vehicles are equipped with daytime running lights that are always on.

As it gets darker outside, the headlights and tail lights usually turn on automatically or if it is darker out, it is more obvious that there is a requirement to turn your headlights on.
The OPP asks that during winter weather, you take the time to manually turn your headlights and tail lights on whenever you are driving.
Quite often during times of blowing snow and with snow covered roads, the daytime running lights are just not enough for your vehicle to be visible to others on the roadway.
To optimize safety while using Ontario’s Highways, the OPP asks that you turn on your lights for life.
