Candlelight service

Candlelight service

Sheila McMahon, executive director of the United Native Friends Centre, foreground, and Brandis Oliver, also of the UNFC, attended a candlelight vigil at Knox United Church on Friday evening to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The ceremony—which also coincided with the 24th anniversary of the “Montreal Massacre”—honoured women who have been victims of gender-based violence both here in Rainy River District and beyond.
