Paper machine idled yet again

Paper machine #7 at the Resolute Forest Products mill here has been idled indefinitely as of today.
PM7 had been idled in April and then restarted in mid-July, when 50-60 workers were brought back to work on a temporary basis.

“This announcement has been widely anticipated since PM7 came back online with the understanding that it would only operate temporarily and cease production before mid-December 2013,” Xavier Van Chau, director of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility for Resolute, told the Times.
“There are no current plans to restart the paper machine,” he added.
The 50-60 workers who had been called back to work this summer are impacted by this decision.
The idling of PM7 was announced to staff Nov. 20.
PM7 produces about 100,000 metric tons of groundwood specialty printing papers.
