Silver finishes in fourth-place tie

The Chris Silver rink from Fort Frances finished with a 3-3 record to tie for fourth at the Northern Ontario Bantam boys’ provincial championship in Longlac over the weekend.
The foursome, including third Reece Jones, second Jason Bazylewski, and lead Kurt McGuire, missed a chance to force a tie-breaker in their final round-robin contest by losing 8-4 to Sault Ste. Marie’s Benjamin Manary on Saturday morning.

Sudbury’s Tanner Horgan captured the provincial title yesterday with a convincing 8-1 triumph over Mackenzie Joblin (Thunder Bay).
After getting off to a 1-2 start following Friday morning’s draw, the Silver rink nabbed a pair of wins in their remaining games Friday to put themselves into the mix for a playoff berth.
They doubled Keewatin’s Jaron Hoppe 6-3 in the afternoon draw, then dumped Felix Lasalle (Timmins) 13-6 that night.
