Bonot falls short of Brier berth
Monday, 11 February 2013 - 2:29pm
Also at 3-5 were Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay), Matt Dumontelle (New Liskeard), and Mike Jakubo (Copper Cliff).
Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs captured his fourth-straight provincial title yesterday with a narrow 6-5 extra-end triumph over Robbie Gordon (Sudbury).
He now will represent Northern Ontario at the Tim Hortons Brier in Edmonton next month.
After finishing play Thursday with a 3-1 record, that all-important fourth win proved elusive for the Bonot rink as they dropped their last four games.
Following a 5-1 loss to Jakubo on Friday morning, Bonot was edged 2-1 by Jacobs that afternoon, then fell 8-4 to Jordan Chandler of North Bay that night.
A 6-3 loss to Thunder Bay’s Bryan Burgess on Saturday morning officially ended their Brier quest.

Despite a strong start, Stratton native Trevor Bonot was unable to reach the playoff round at the Northern Ontario men’s curling championships in Nipigon last week.
Bonot, who curls out of the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay with Al Macsemchuk at third, Chris Briand at second, and Devlin native Mike Badiuk at lead, finished the round-robin on Saturday in a four-way tie for fifth place with a 3-5 record.
