Police, RRFDC topping council agenda

This will be followed by presentations from regional economic developer Geoff Gillon and consultant Tannis Drysdale regarding Rainy River Future Development Corp. activities from Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2012.
The pair also will detail revisions to the town’s Residential Renovate, Demo, and Rebuild program, which is designed to provide incentives for certain types of development.
The public portion of the committee of the whole meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:36 p.m., followed by the council meeting at 7.
Other business on the agenda includes:
•a report re: renewal of lease agreements at the airport;
•revisions to Policy 4.15 (Standard Operating Procedure No. 3 for Water Main Breaks & Repairs-Drinking Water System);
•a report re: a five-year extension with Ontario Clean Water Agency to operate and maintain the sewage treatment plant and sewage pumping stations;
•a report re: the town’s policy for the burial of deceased indigent patients of hospital and unclaimed bodies;
•an advertising request from the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce;
•an advertising request from the Fort Frances Aquanauts Swim Team;
•a report re: deputy mayor remuneration;
•an amendment to the 2013 budget timetable;
•travel and per diems claims from Mayor Roy Avis for attendance at the Resolute announcement in Atikokan on Jan. 31;
•a per diem claim from Coun. Andrew Hallikas re: a Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association board meeting;
•travel and per diem claims for Coun. Rick Wiedenhoeft for attendance at the Rainy River District Municipal Association’s annual general meeting;
•semi-annual executive committee reports from Administration and Finance, Community Services, Operations and Facilities, and Planning and Development;
•a request from Clint Calder, president of the Sunset Country Métis Council, re: outstanding property tax bills;
•a bylaw to amend Town of Fort Frances By-Law No. 10/03 the Traffic Control By-Law to provide for a loading zone on Shevlin Avenue at the front entrance to Green Manor; and
•a request from the Rainy River District Municipal Association re: council and alternate representation on the Local Government Networking Group.
