Night of firsts in hoops

The latest pair of games in the Fort Frances men’s basketball league Monday night at Fort High resulted in a couple of firsts.
Taggs earned its first win of the season with a dramatic 92-91 triumph over the Muskies in the night’s opening contest.

Trailing by two points with just seconds to go, Jacob McIntosh drained a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to give his team the victory.
Mark Heyens led Taggs (1-5) with 33 points while Will Anderson netted 40 for the black-and-gold (2-4).
Then in the late game, the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs (4-2) romped to a 98-75 win to hand Investors Group its first loss.
Josh Mastin led the Voyageurs with 39 points while Adrian Chapman and Steve Windels each had 21 for Investors Group (5-1).
League play is slated to resume this Monday, with the Voyageurs facing the Muskies at 6:45 p.m.
Taggs and Investors Group then will square off at 8 p.m.
