Horgan rink in need of wins
If Tracy Horgan’s rink wants to represent Ontario again at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts this year, they are going to have to be nearly perfect over the final two days of round-robin play at the provincial playdowns.
Heading into action today at the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club, the Sudbury-based rink—which includes Devlin native and former Muskie Jenna Enge at second—was at 2-3 to sit tied for sixth with Kendra Lilly (North Bay).
After beating Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay) in her opening draw Monday night, the Horgan foursome, which also features Jennifer Horgan at third and Amanda Gates at lead, suffered two losses Tuesday.
They fell 9-4 to Lilly, then lost 5-2 to Homan in a rematch of last year’s provincial final.
Horgan snapped her losing skid by defeating Marlo Dahl (Thunder Bay) yesterday afternoon but then dropped a 7-4 decision to Auld last night.
The Dahl rink, which includes former Stratton resident Angela Lee-Wiwcharyk at third, Stephanie Davis at second, and Kim Zsakai at lead, were at the bottom of the 10-team field at 0-5.
Round-robin play resumed today at 2 p.m. (EST), with Horgan taking on Harrison and Dahl facing Homan.
Tonight’s draw, which gets underway at 7 p.m. (EST), will see Horgan against Mouzar and Dahl squaring off against Lilly.
Round-robin play wraps up tomorrow, with the final set for Sunday at 4 p.m. (EST).
The winner will represent Ontario at this year’s Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which is set for Feb. 16-24 in Kingston.
