Lakers fall to Ice Dogs

Despite outshooting their opponents 38-31, the Fort Frances Lakers fell 2-1 to the host Dryden Ice Dogs in SIJHL action Tuesday night.
The Ice Dogs were led by forwards Austin Lewis and Chris Belhumeur, who each notched a goal and an assist.

At the other end of the rink, recently-acquired goalie Robert Kopytek-Mackenzie turned aside 37 shots to earn the victory.
A second-period marker by Jordan Nolan proved to be his only blemish.
Jameson Shortreed had a 29-save performance for the Lakers in a losing effort.
With Tuesday’s loss, the Lakers (13-11-0-1) remain one point back of the Thunder Bay North Stars for third place in the standings.
The Lakers are back in action Saturday night when they’ll host the lowly Duluth Clydesdales at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The squad also will hold its annual bake sale that day from 4-8 p.m. in the Memorial Sports Centre lobby.
