The Hire Success Work Fair is an initiative of the Fort Frances Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY). The event will take place at the Métis Hall on July 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and promotes networking between enthusiastic youth and employment agencies from the local community as well as regionally and nationally.
A teen “open mic,” for ages 14 and up, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. Entry fee is $2. To register, or if you have any questions, call the library at 274-9870.

The Halkirk fire protection team presents its 17th-annual fish fry on Saturday, Aug. 2 from noon-6 p.m. at the Bear Pass fire hall (Armstrong Road). There also will be a penny auction, homemade pies, and quilt draw. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids (no dogs, please).

Mud Lake City is getting set to host the biggest musical festival in the district. It is the 10th Annual MUD LAKE CITY MUSIC FEST to be held on AUG. 24th - the 4th Sunday in August. Past years have seen 1000 spectators and 38+ local musicians.
Mud Lake City is “The Biggest Little City in the Rainy River Valley”. It is a hands-on, open Air Museum - a private collection of antiques, collectibles, retro & oddities and is a replica of an old western-style town.
